University Center
The University Center of Randolph County was established in 2008 and is a collaborative effort between Randolph Community College, Pfeiffer University, and Salem College.
Courses are offered in particular disciplines at significantly reduced tuition rates, creating an opportunity for students to complete a baccalaureate degree without leaving the county.

If RCC Library is closed, you may use NCKNOWS to receive real-time online help from a librarian in North Carolina.
RCC Library Hours of Operation

Friday

In order to check out materials from the RCC Library (including materials placed on reserve by your University Center instructor) or to use computers in the library or LRC Computer Lab, students must have a valid RCC student ID card. Your ID card is made in the RCC Library and may be registered to serve as your library card at that time. The ID card provides you with free admission to most College events as well as some local business discounts. With presentation of the ID card, you are also eligible to receive a copy card pre-loaded with $3.00 that you can use in the RCC Library when printing from any computer or when using the photocopier.
Please contact Debbie Luck (dsluck@randolph.edu), if you have any questions about University Center library services at Randolph Community College.
Books Pfeiffer Library's catalog of books is accessible on our website by clicking "Find a Book". You may request one of our books using RCC's interlibrary loan service, or you may check it out in person at Pfeiffer Library using your Pfeiffer ID card. Our catalog includes both our main and Charlotte campuses, and all books are available to you; books from the Charlotte campus can be sent to RCC via interlibrary loan or sent to Pfeiffer's main campus to be checked out in person. Our catalog also includes 20,000 ebooks available through netLibrary. To access these books, you will need to create your individual netLibrary account by going through the link to netLibrary on our Research Databases page. Once your account is created, you can access our ebooks from anywhere. Our librarians will be happy to assist you with this.
Databases & Journals Many excellent databases including ERIC are available through the statewide NCLIVE service. Pfeiffer also subscribes to a number of additional databases including Education Full Text, the premier resource for our education students. To access these resources from points outside the Pfeiffer campus, you will need to provide a username and password. Details for determining your username and password, along with troubleshooting info, are available on our website. To access this information along with the databases, click on Find an Article.
You may use Journal Finder to determine whether we have access to a particular journal in any of our databases or in print. Journal Finder works within databases to help you locate and link to full text, as well as independently. If you need an article in one of our print journals, you may use RCC's interlibrary loan service or visit Pfeiffer Library in person to copy the article.
Reference Service & Research Assistance Reference librarians are available at Pfeiffer to help you use our resources to complete your education assignments. You can telephone (704-463-3350) or e-mail lara.little@pfeiffer.edu to ask for help. Books
Salem College is a member of the NC-PALS library consortium, which shares an Online catalog of holdings in four college libraries. You can search just the Salem holdings, or you can search all four of the NC-PALS library catalogs at once. In either case, the best way to borrow one of these items is to request it using interlibrary loan services at the RCC library. If you do not have time to wait for the item to be shipped through the mail on interlibrary loan, you may visit the Gramley Library at Salem College and check it out in person using your Salem photo ID card.
The Salem College Online catalog includes links to over 55,000 electronic books in the netLibrary database. To read the Salem copy, please click on the link reading, “Click Here to Access Salem College Ebook. “ As with the other databases, you will be prompted to enter your Salem username and password. Because these electronic books are part of shared collections, it is possible that a given title will not be available until another user has “returned” it—just like a book from your library stacks. Please contact Dr. Rose Simon (rose.simon@salem.edu) if you have persistent problems reaching these resources.
Databases
Several good research databases, such as the Business Source Premier and Regional Business News are available to all college students in North Carolina through NC LIVE. Salem College also subscribes to other useful databases, such as the Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe listed on the Business / Economics webpage.
To access these resources from points outside the Salem campus, you will need to provide a Salem username and password. These would be the first part [i.e., the part that precedes @salem.edu] of your Salem e-mail address, and your e-mail password.
Reference Services & Research Assistance
Reference librarians are available at Salem to help you use our resources to complete your business course assignments. You can telephone (336-917-5420) during scheduled hours of reference service or e-mail Dr. Simon (rose.simon@salem.edu) to ask for help.
